Gino's Brick Oven Pizza Experience

Hello dear reader, I'm back again for another blog review! In my first review for 2016, we take a look at one of the best pizza resto in the metro! Joining me is my previous special guest...now my special love, Janella!

Let's start...

Ambiance and Accommodation
Gino's Brick Oven Pizza (or Gino's for short) is located at 2nd floor Finman Centre, Tordesillas Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City.

Gino's Makati branch

Gino's has a simple and modest-looking dining area. Couch seats surround almost two-thirds of the restaurant's perimeter. A single table setup can cater three to four people  I like the minor details like the brick walls and fresh plants in pails.

A portion of the brick wall decorated with fresh plants in pails.

The staffs were pretty nice and attentive too. The regulars who are mostly our Asian neighbors (Chinese and Japanese to be exact) can attest to that. Condiments, table napkins and cutlery are within easy reach at every table.

Condiments from Left to Right:
Olive Oil, Tabasco sauce, Gino's Spicy Honey (our favorite)

Out of the three condiments, Gino's Spicy Honey stands out! We later discovered that it was intended for pizza.

The Food
We ordered Panna Sausage Pizza (Php 330.00) and Carbonara (Php 220.00).

The Panna Sausage Pizza is a thin crust pizza topped with Tomato Sauce, Homemade Sausage, Cream and Parmigiano Reggiano.

Panna Sausage Pizza

We were impressed that the Panna Sausage Pizza was very delicious amidst the limited ingredients--it has a mild yet oh so tasty flavour! The use of quality ingredients was also evident--you can still see minute amounts of Tomato pulps in the pizza!

The outer crust has a crunchy yet chewy consistency while the middle portion has the right chewiness to it. Janella complemented the crust since it departs to the typical cracker-like thin crust pizza!

The surprises don't end there! On fair amounts, Gino's Spicy Honey makes the pizza even more flavoursome! It was like eating a different pizza altogether! In the cold taste test, the Panna Sausage Pizza retained its main taste with some added mild saltiness.

The Carbonara on the other hand is made from Fettuccine pasta with sauce made from Cream and Egg with Bacon and Parmigiano for toppings.

Gino's Carbonara

The Carbonara was a-okay but not our liking in terms of sauce. The sauce's taste was towards the buttery flavour. We on the other hand prefer the creamier taste. We also feel that the Carbonara lacks a bit of Greens and additional bits of Bacon to boost the overall flavour.

Conclusion
When you say Gino's Brick Oven Pizza, we could only think of positive comments! The Panna Sausage Pizza was superb in terms of execution and taste! For us, Gino's Spicy Honey was a pretty novel idea! The Carbonara may not be our bet but it was still delicious in its own right.

They may have a plain dining area but it was well compensated by the staff's great service. You can see their hands-on approach not only to regulars but also first time diners as well.

Both Janella and I highly recommend Gino's Brick Oven Pizza to pizza lovers, foodies and for people who want to be converted from hater to pizza lover!
